Medicare Rebates

  • You will need to book a double appointment with your doctor, preferably with a doctor who has known you for at least one year. Ask him or her that you would like a Mental Health Care Plan (also called Better Access Initiative) to see a Psychologist. Your doctor is likely to ask you a few questions regarding what you have been struggling with and may ask you to complete a mental state questionnaire. Ask your doctor to email the plan to us or take a copy with you to our first appointment.

This entitles you to a rebate of $88.25 on 10 sessions per calendar year.

  • If you haven’t already got an online account with MyGov / medicare, you can register at:

  • Take a photo of the receipt and upload it. The rebate is $88.25 per session.

  • You will need to contact your private health insurance to see if they cover psychologist services. Note, Joyce is a psychologist and not a clinical psychologist

You can only claim from insurance or medicare and not both, for each bill.
